Linking Filemaker To External Server Files

I'm hoping someone can help me. I've put together a Filemaker Pro database that will store hundreds of images of various hardware items that we access everyday for catalogues, newspaper ads, etc.

My problem is that I would like to store just low-res images in the Filemaker database and when someone has done a search, and has found the image they want, they can say click on it or a button and download the hi-res image from a server onto their desktop ready for use in Photoshop.

So I'm wondering how I can link the searchable database that resides on peoples desktop computers to the main pic file that resides on an external image server.

If that all makes sense, can anyone give me some tips on how to do it? Does it require a plug-in or is a scripting thing, I'm just not sure.

Try creating another cntainer field that contains just the path (link) to the hi-res file. The reason I say another is because I'm guessing that you are using a container field for the low-res pic.
