Linking Errors installing Oracle 8.1.7

Hi all......hope you can help.....
I am trying to install Oracle 8.1.7 on AIX 5.1 - the database installed fine; but I had errors during the linking phase - there were about 8 or 10 errors all similar to "Error while invoking target instance of makefile........" and I ignored them and tried to relink oracle manually after installation.

I ran the relink oracle command from $ORACLE_HOME/bin and got the following error
"ld: 0706-006 Cannot find or open library file: -l m" followed by
"make: The error code from the last command is 255"

Any ideas please?????

hi,

tipically when you link your object ( or 3th part software)

by ld myobject.obj -lm -o myexe.exe

your object refereces math library ( m letter of -lm )
(l stay for library )

and the system look for a file (library) named

/usr/lib/libm.a

( /usr/lib/lib and .a are standard )

more that the non existance of /usr/lib/libm.a (check it)
looks than the syntax of command is wrong ( reads "-l m" as filename) probably is black the object filename before
-l qualifier .
