the query is pretty much as per the subject line does anybody know how to do this - link data from an orracle database (i beleive it's odbc compliant!) into director, so as to autogenerate new data in cast members as and when the database is updated.

this links in to my previous post - i want to update sports scores on a large screen display - and the data i'm being offered, which is being used at present to serve a website, is this oracle database.

thanks in advance.

One quick way would be to have the database output the required data into XML which you can then parse to get the information you need. This would be one of those many ideal places for XML to fit in. You don't need to spend lots on buying an ODBC complaint xtra though I believe there are a few out there. Consider XML and then move onto using xtras.

If the database is on the internet :

Depending on how much data you are expecting to bring into director, you can make a web page on the site that generates the data you need, possibly 1 item per line, or set of data per line ... and then get it using GetNetText.

Parse these lines and you have your data without any Xtras other than what comes with Director.
