linking analogue camcorder to p.c. ???

hello all , i have a sony 100x zoom analogue camcorder , i have been trying to link this to my p.c. through my graphics card whish supports video in , the card i a nvidia g-force ti4200 128m ddr - chaintech , i am using svcd lead to in/out connection leads at the back of card , using in obviously , i know the card works fine as t.v. out as i have set that up and used t.v. as second monitor.
would i need a firewire card or equivelent pci card in my tower to do this job , or am onto the right thing ?
i have pinnacle 7 , and downloaded movimaker 2 for XP PRO..
system is athlon XP1800 , 512sdram , windows xp pro , ...
any help will be greatly appreciated ..
