Hi there,

I have a couple of tab-seperated textfiles to import into Indesign. I want the text to be placed in a table, so I select the text and convert it to a table. Till there it's all ok. But when I update the link the table disapears and the text is placed normaly in the text frame again. Does anyone knows how to keep the table after updating the link?

I assume you used ID Tables menu, convert text to tables command. If you use that ID has no way of recognizing the external source document where you're making changes since it's not a table.

One of the easiest ways to fix the problem is to generate the table in an external program like Word or Excel and make the changes in that linked document. When you update the esternal doc, and update link things will stay as designed.

Other than that you could chnage text in individual cells in teh ID table.
