I have inherited an Access Database that uses linked text files exported from SAP. As it runs right now the tables are missing the last 3 columns from the text file. There are no consistent delimiters ... as there are spaces between some of the column headings and not between others ... same with the data. Any ideas as to how to link the tables where I don't loose the last 3 columns???

Many thanks!

gwoman,

How about re-linking them?
File->Get External Data->Link Tables, select the path and choose Files of type : Text Files (*.txt, *.csv, *.tab, *.asc). Open the desired txt file using the wizard for the rest .........
Sounds like it 's a fixed-width, record format.
You should have a record layout in hands, unless guessing the fields, is easy...

Thanks Jer ...
After I posted yesterday I did try linking the files again using the wizard ... I was able to get the columns to show up ... however I do not have a record layout at the present time (I am currently attempting to obtain such) ... during this process I found several import specificiation files but they did not include the columns in question. I am currently attempting to create a new import spec using excel ... Thanks so much for your help!
