Hello,
I have tried to link tables in two databases, but when I tell it which database to link the table with, it gives me the standard message you get when you try to open a secured database with the wrong shortcut. The main database has access security and I think that this is where the problem resides. I have tried using a database of which uses an exact copy of the original workgroup file. I have tried using a database that has no security. It's like it won't let me log on?

Tell me what you think.

Open the database that has the actual tables in it using the Security.MDW file that the 'Main Database ' uses, But log in using the Admins user Id

Then add Permission to the appropriate groups that are used by the 'Main Database'

Save the db you're in and close it.

That should fix your problems.

Remember for the future:
User Names and Groups ( And which user is a member of which Group ) is stored in the Security.MDW file )

The Permissions that Group membership confers on a user regarding the Tables, Queries, Forms etc and what they can do to them is stored in the Xxxx.MDB file that contains those Tables, Queries, Forms etc.

thus you can completely secure a range of different databases using the same Security.MDW file.

You need to make sure that all users are members of a Group that has Open Run permission on the database that contains the actual tables.
