I've got client Access 2003 databases linking to tables on a master database on a server. There are client tables linked to the master. When any client is active, I can't make any changes in the master database because I don't have exclusive access. How can I link tables without kicking off exclusive access?
Thanks

Possibly the best way is to use Access security to remove the admin user and Users groups the permission to open the backend database exclusivly. This if nothing else will annoy you into finding the source.

I am assuming you are having a data problem and that the application or front end (file with the links) is somehow copied to the client machines. If not this may be the source of your problem.

You can also check out under tools options and on the advanced tab change the default record locking to No locks.

How could you have exclusive access when a user simply reads data from the database?
