I built a SQL 2008 R2 server at my desktop. It links to another server fine when I am at the server. However when I am at my laptop (sitting next to the box with R2) it gives me Login failed for user 'NT AUTHORITY\ANONYMOUS LOGON'. I go back to the server, properties of linked server; security. I currently have under 'Local server login to remote server login mappings) NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM with check mark on impersonate along with my Domain ID with check mark on impersonate as well. I also have 'For a login not defined in the list above, connections will:' Be made using the login's current security context MARKED.

I can log into the server setup as linked directly with no problems with my domain ID & password.

From the server I can see the linked server along with tables. From remote computer(laptop) I can't... I get that message.

Hi have you tried checking the protocols you have enabled on the server. Look in SQL Server configuration manager under SQL Server Network configuration.
