I have several files which are linked. How do I go about deleting files that are linked? Will it delete the orginal files or just the linked versions? Is there any way of unlinking files once they have been linked?

Thanks in advance

Kevin

In the diectory containing the linked files, rm <filename> (NOT the whole pathname to the original files, just the filename) will just delete the link, leaving the original intact. HTH.

Before deleting it, you must be sure that's symbolic links

How can I tell whether the link is symbolic or not?

Kevin

A symbolic link looks like that

link_name -> /tmp/real_file_name
