I have 5 tables that are linked to Excel spreadsheets. When I open the linked table and make a minor change on 4 of them, the data is properly reflected in the underlying spreadsheet.

On the 5th linked table, when I make a similar change the following happens:
- When I try to open the table or the spreadsheet after the change, I get the error: "External Table is not in the expected format"
- I can no longer open the table or the spreadsheet
- The Spreadsheet size almost doubles.

I have double checked the formatting on on fields of the spreadsheet ant they appear to be OK.

Any ideas or experiance with this problem are greatly appreciated.

One possibility is that the Import/Export spec for the table has become damaged, or that you modified the structure of the spreadsheet so that it no longer corresponds to the ImEx spec. To correct this, delete the table link and then relink the table. Be sure to review the data types and sizes of all the fields.
