linked excel worksheet problem

Situation:
Networked Access 2003 database.
Back end on the server, includes
an msd table and a linked excel worksheet
Front end on users computers, includes
forms, queries, report.

Problem: The linked Excel worksheet displays on the FIRST
user PC, but not on any other. The error says
the Excel worksheet is already opened and is in
EXCLUSIVE mode.

QUESTION: What needs to be done to have the EXCEL worksheet
open in non-exclusive mode?

I think you need a shared workbook:

The excel workbook was changed to 'share', but made no difference in Access, it still only allowed the first user access to the worksheet. Joel

Did you protect the workbook, and if so, does removing the protection help?
