I am trying to link an excel table to access, it works OK but one field loses all it's data. I have tried everything I can think of to rectify this problem but no luck.
The cells in the excel table are formatted as text i.e.(addresses)
I'm sure the answer is very basic, but I am new to access.
Help

Check the first record. If the field is all numbers (regardless of the formatting), access will consider it a number field -- and will expect it to ALWAYS be a number field.

The first record is all text. The column is formatted as text.

Ok I've worked it out.
For information the column heading in excel had 3 spaces before the heading text. If I linked the table without checking " The first row contains column headings" box all was OK.
I then deleted the spaces before the text in the heading and all was OK. Table is now linked successfully.
