Has anyone tried to connect to SQL Server through Oracle? I need to load a table in SQL Server (remote server) with the data in a table in Oracle.
Thanks.

I haven't actually done this, but it should be fairly straightforward via an ODBC link.

yep

-- on the sqlserver end, create a dsn that points to the oracle db

-- in sqlserver itself define the oracle database as a remote database

There are 2 products

1) The Oracle transparent gateway for ODBC (foxpro, access and excel etc)

2) The Oracle transparent gateway for SQL Server.

Both are configured similarly (and are a pain in the ass to install but) they both work well..

The ODBC gateway is part of 8i (alledgedly)

Take care (mail me if you have probs cuz I've been there and its not nice.

PS the ODBC DSN goes the other way (SQL server to Oracle)

Do I need to do anything on the SQL server side if I want to put some tables into SQL server from Oracle DB? In the past, I wasn't able to put Oracle client(which includes the provider) on the SQL server to allow it "talk" to Oracle. This time I'm planning to set up an Oracle to push data into the SQL server.
Thank in advance!
