I will try to make this real simple.

I want to link a SQL Server table to an Access database.

This database is accessable by multiple machines (users).

I want to set up ONE (global) user on the sql server for everyone.

When I go into Access and link the table, it ask for a DSN. I set up a file DSN using SQL Authenticity for my Global user name. Only the machine that I set up the DSN on can access the table. The other machines don't recognize the DSN info. Regardless if I do a machine, file or system DSN.

There has got to be a way for me to be able to be able to give everyone access to this table without having to set up each one of their usernames in the SQL Security/Login section. I just don't know how.

Much thanks in advance to the GURU who gives me the answer.

Are you using Windows or SQL Authentication on the SQL Server? If you want everyone to use the same login, the server must be configured for SQL Authentication.

Then you have to create the DSN to use SQL Authentication not a trusted connection.

If you want to get the best answer for your question read faq183-874 and faq183-3179.

Thanks very much Terry. Your answer was the one that works. I figured that out last night. I set up a global user on the SQL. Then when I linked the tables in Access I used SQL Authentication and used the "Save Password" option so that each user I give the database will have access.

Thanks again. You're always on the mark.
