How do I create a link to a file saved on the network in an email. I want to be able to click on the link and it open the file. I am using Outlook 2000.

Thanks in advance.

Do an insert hyperlink and then select Type: File then in the URL: box append the full path and file name to the file:// entry that is already there.

link looks a bit like...
file://\\machine_name\full_path\file_name.xls

Alternatively open word and insert a hyperlink (ctrl-k) then 'browse for file'. Say okay and then copy and paste the link to the mail message.

hope this helps

Adding to bonifale

If you have a file name as follows

c:\my spreadsheet.xls

if you use

file:///c:\my spreadsheet.xls

the link will only be c:\my

to get the whole thing use

<file:///c:\my spreadsheet.xls>

This will give a link to the whole name of the file.
