Does anyone knows how to create a link in a Notes e-mail to a file residing in a particular folder of a Windows server? I would like for the user to click in the link so the files opens, in this case is a very large Access file that I don't want to send as an attachment. I'm using Notes 6.5, by the way.

Thanks.

Is the person who receives the message with the link going to have the same drive letter mappings and privileges as the person sending it ? Do they have the same version of MS Access installed? If the answer to both is Yes, you should try creating a shortcut to the file, and attach it to the message - File, Attach. When they click on the shortcut in the message, they open the file. I just tried it here (Notes R7, file on a mapped drive on a server), and it works.

Correction! My advice yesterday was wrong. I was just checking my Sent file in my Notes account, to delete large files, and the test message I sent myself yesterday, where I attached the shortcut to a large file, had THE FILE ITSELF attached to it! To do just the Link, you may have to put the file into something like Filenet - I have their Content Services product, and it has a feature in the web client that WILL create a Notes Email with a link to the file you've selected. We use that feature heavily here - our Fire Department puts training and policy memos for the troops (over 500) to read, and then sends an email to the whole department with the link to the document. The same cautions apply - the folks receiving the link must have enough privileges to be able to open it if they drilled through without using the link.
