I've recently been working on a site for a music groupe. They asked me to implement two web sites. One in HTML for users who don't have very good cpu's, and the other completely in Flash 5.

Here is the example:

The HTML site contains a split frame set of "Top Page" and a "Main Frame". On the top page there is a animated gif with "hotspot" links attached to it. When clicked on the "Main Frame" below links to the next page.

The problem I'm having is sometimes the "Main Frame" page, below, doesn't appear when the links are clicked on above.
Also to get the thing working you have to click on the refresh button on your browser.

I'm not sure how resolve this problem. If anyone could shed some light, I would be most grateful.

I can't re-create the problem that you were having but I would suggest that instead of such a large image you have the animated gif and then you break down the rest of the image and put it into a table.

This would give you a faster download time and the links would be much easire to setup and more flexible.
