Hello,
I am trying to have a simple link from one protected file into another. When the protected file is open the link works, once I close it it turns to ERR. Is there a way round this? I know the password but I can't afford to turn it off for security reasons. I need the information to update regularly, so I can't turn off the calculation or something similar.
Any help would be greatly appreciated,

Burley,

I believe this is the solution you're seeking...

Don't password protect the file when it's saved.

Instead, hide all your sensitive data by hiding the sheet(s) the data is in, and then use: Worksheet Hide Enable to hide that sheet or sheets.

Then, you need to "Seal" the file with: Slash File Admin Seal File.

If you go this route, you'll see that your "link" formula will work - WITHOUT the "sealed file" being in memory.

Hope this helps. :)
