Hello altogether

I'm new to the forum, so correct me if I do anything wrongly.

I have a problem with certain network ports

%RTD-1-LINK_FLAP ... 5 times per min

The port is not configured to disable in such a case but I surfed the internet for a solution and was not lucky.

Driver is updated, port changed, cable replaced and still I am getting this error message.

It is not a constant problem, it appears mostly in the morning when the user logs on, I get about 5 messages and the nothing until the next day or even for a few days.

The user is not experiencing any problems. What is it that causes such messages on some ports on startup?

Thanks for any help.

Post a sh run and a sh interface of the interface in question. Also, post sh logg.

What is this...router or switch? What model?

I get something similar on HP Procurve switches - everytime certain switchports come up (somebody gets to their desk and switches on their PC) I get a message saying there's a duplex mis-match or excessive broadcasts but when I go and check, both PC and switchport are functioning correctly.
I assume the switch is schizophrenic and is issuing these alerts at the same time as it is negotiating the correct settings.
I asked HP about it, and they say some network cards don't behave correctly and this confuses the switch.

Just make sure your switchport is configured as auto/auto with spanning-tree portfast (or spanning-tree portfast trunk).

Thanks for the tip. Unfortunately, I didn't help a lot.

I enabled port fast everywhere, so this should be ruled out as the cause.

The switches are Cisco Catalyst 3548-XLs

Any other ideas???

I checked the log and found nothing out of the ordinary except for those error previously mentioned.

Like I said. Post a show config all and show interface for the interface in question...
