I am linking some Excel sheets into a database.

BUT when it links the data it 'guesses' the field type and gets it wrong - i.e. it sets field type to number, but the field is mainly number based but also has some text in it. I get the error #Num! in the fields.

How can I tell access what the field types are when it links them?

It looks at the firt few rows to determine data type. Make sure the first few rows in Excel have text values in the field.

Excel does not handle columns containing BOTH text and numbers very well.

I'd wager that when you query, you'll get no numeric values returned in the resultset.
