Hello all. I'm a bit of a newbie to Sharepoint and am not sure if this is something that has been answered before or if it even makes sense.
I've been asked to create a team site for a project team at my company. I've created the design, added some content and created some document libraries to reflect a more streamlined approach to document management and collaboration. The challenge I am facing is that I still need to keep the existing intranet directory structure intact due to some scripts which run against some files in those directories for reporting purposes. I've experimented with Graham's Windows Folders web part but this doesn't allow for check-in and check-out of documents or versioning - the main reasons I went with Sharepoint in the first place.
Is it possible to link my document libraries to the shares on the network? I need to allow my users to modify documents in the shares while maintaining version control and check-in, check-out capabilities. If this isn't completely clear, I can elaborate more but this is the best way I can think of to explain it.
Thank you.
