Is there a way to link comments to shapes? Everytime I move something, I have to go back and move the comment. Any ideas? Is there a better way of doing this? Thanks.
Guess I need to be more descriptive. Not the actual text that is associated with a shape. If you go to Insert|Comment is what I mean. There is extra detail for shapes that I do not want to have show unless the user goes over this comment to read about it. Am I making sense? Thanks.
Try this. In the ShapeSheet of the shape go to Miscellaneous section and in the comment cell enter the text you want. Eg. =”Big Box” and it will display Big Box when the mouse is hovered over it.
I couldn't find the ShapeSheet for the shape (I found it for the page), but I did figure out how to insert a Shape ScreenTip which does the exact same thing as you have said. Thanks!
There are two types of comments in Visio. One is in the Miscellaneous section of the shapesheet and shows up when you hover over the shape. The second (and newer) is not related to the shape and is in it's own collection the "Annotation" collection. The insert Comment from the menu creates the second type. Since it is not related to any shape, it will not move when the shapes are moved.
