Link Child/Master Fields 1

How do I write this in the Link Child/Master Fields

Subreport value 2008
Main Report value 200820

tried =left([term],4)

but Access changed it to =left([term];4)

when I moved the cursor out of the Link Master Fields property

Do I need to add another field to the main report's query or is there another syntax in the Child/Master Link properties that I would use.

I usually add a calculated field to the Record Source of the main and/or subreport.
