Afternoon.

I am fairly new to Notes R5.0, and am hoping someone can help me with the following query, please.

Have set up two forms, one main form, ('AONE') and one response form ('BTWO') to the AONE form.

What I need to know please, is how do I establish the link between the relevant main form documents and their response documents, (via the response form).
Should I be using/updating the 'Document ID', etc? (If so not sure how).

On setting up the form 'BTWO', I selected 'Response' in the Form Type of the Form Properties. But then how do I link this as a response to each of the documents within the main form 'AONE'?

Any help would be appreciated, please. I know this is only a small point, but please be patient with me, (- as am new to this!). I'm happy with embedding fields/field properties, actions, buttons and the like, but am currently stuck on this one small issue.
Many, many thanX in advance.

Kind regards

Hello Magnetar. Welcome to the wonderful world of Notes development.
Now, into the nitty gritty. What exactly is the link that you want ? Are you confused with parent/child document hierarchy ?
Maybe it would help if I told you that response docs are automatically linked by the Notes engine to the parent doc they are responding to. The only problem with that is that, to view the responses correctly, you need to build a view that respects the response hierarchy (in the view properties) and in the view, you need a response column (column property).
How to build a response column is one of the many things you need to take a crash course on, but don't worry, I can help you.
Now, if this does not answer your question, could you be a bit more specific about what link you wish to create ?

Pascal.

The link is created by:
being in the main document when creating the response doc
having the main document highlighted in a view when creating response doc

You can then create a field in the response doc with a value that is a fieldname of main doc
