I have 3 of the 4200 switches with the 48 10/100 ports and 2 of the GB ports (3c17302a). I am stacking the 3 units by connecting ports 49 on one to 50 on the other. That leaves port 50 on the first switch and 49 on the bottom switch available.
Is there any advantage of making these two remaining ports a linked port and connecting it to my dual NIC Windows 2003 server? My guess is that there would not be an advantage unless there is something in the switch that is telling the 96 10/100 ports that one channel is busy so use the other. Is this how it works?
