Hi all,
I need some help here. I am having some problems with my computer. I can be working on my computer and everyting is fine, then all of a sudden lines will appear going horizontally across the monitor. They do not stay in one place all the time, some lines come and go, others move with the screen when i move the screen up or down with the mouse. When the screen suddenly gets a whole lot of lines on the screen all at once, then the computer reboots itself. and the lines are gone for a few minutes. Anyone know what i can do to fix this? I have a Dell Dimension E310 computer, with a built in video card onto the mother board. Let me know if you need any more information. I just formatted the hard drive also, because i was getting massive errors on a whole lot of things, like page file faults, .dll failures, and the screen would turn blue and lock up on me.

Thanks,
Jediwarrior

i've had this and i updated/reinstalled my graphics drivers and that fixed the problem.

I did reload my video driver, but to no avail.

sounds like a thermal issue... I would blow out the internals on that PC as a starter... while you are in there have a look at the capacitors...
also the errors you described (before reinstalling the OS) indicate a hardware failure, probable RAM... so run a MEMTEST.

I agree on the thermal issue. Don't just blow it out, make sure that all of the fans are running. If your system has built-in temperate probes try to get a reading of the temp. I know on the old HPs that I used to use you could boot into the BIOS setup and it would display the temp, and your Dell may be similar.
