I have a customer who used to have line 9 on the system ring through the paging speakers after hours when the night button was pushed. Now, for some reason, all lines are ringing through the speakers when the button is pushed. So I actually have 2 ?? - first, what is the programming to have a line ring a loudspeaker, and second, how do I make it so only when the night service button is pushed? I got as far as seeing what extensions are in the night service group - there is one that has a phone and two that they are not using. Any help appreciated. Thanks.

There's going to be an extension that is connected to the Night Ringer input of the Amp. That extension needs to have Line 9 assigned to it with No Ring, the other lines restricted to No Access or In Only, and added to the NS group.

So what would have changed to make it go from only line 9 ringing to all lines ringing? A tech was out and added a new extension; this place is operating with only one or two phones to spare so we are always robbing Peter to pay Paul. I am wondering if my tech unplugged an extension that "no one was using" and it actually used to go to the paging system? But that should have made it stop working altogether, not have it ring more lines.

Is there anything in programming that I should check, besides night service extensions and line restrictions? Or why wouldn't I just usassign all the lines except for 9 once I figure out the extension.

Thanks so much for the info - it gives me a place to start. The paging amp is one of the very few things I didn't physically install myself so I would have never even thought of a physical connection. I spend so much time programming that I think programming is the answer to everything....

I would first determine the ext. number that is connected to the paging system and then through central programming, see what rings on it.

I vaguely remember on an early release that everything that appeared on 10 rang out to the night group even if it only blinked on 10. Did ext. 10 change? Did you upgrade releases?

Lastly, a makeshift way around it could be to take an unused or unequipped extension such as 57 and assign line 9 to it. When you want the paging to ring simply go to any phone and press FEATURE 11 57 XX where xx is the extension number connected to the paging. To cancel, press FEATURE 11, 57 57 .

Hope this helps.
