Hello,

Thank God I found these forums. I’m an installer who just recently up-graded an older partner 4.0 to a 6.0 so I could install the T-1 card in their system.

My question is this, after the installation of the new T-1 card and a 012 card now when the voice messaging system picks up the lines and then routs them to the appropriate extension other users and not pick up that line if they want once it goes to the extensions voice mail.

I’ll try to expaine my question again. Before I installed the new cards the customer used to be able to get the lines out of the voice mail. I can do it at our office, you just pick the line up and the voice mail says goodbye and you can converse with the person on the other end of the line (but it's not a t-1 card).

Now keep in mined (b) some of the lines work (/b) correctly and some do not. I have check my programming and can not see any where I have an option to set this feature. The voice mail system is the Big Voice messaging system with one hundred mail boxes and mutable auto attendants.

Thanks for your time and any advice will be well received and appreciated.

John

Are you talking about call screening (they can listen to people leaving messages and pick up if they want to)?

No – Not a call monitoring issue,

Once the calls are answered by the Auto attendant the calls are then transferred to the appropriate extension. The office person there would like to be able to pick up whatever lines she wants too. For some reason a few of the lines will not let her pick them up, out of the extension’s voice mail. So you can see and hear the line ringing but can not pick it up. Although some of the line do work correctly and can be picked up from the voice mails. So I was wondering if I missed a programming step.

Thanks again John

No, I have not. And to the best of my knowledge it’s not so much an extension issue as it seams to be a line issue. I say this because 90% of all calls go to ext 10 and the rest to ext 13 and one other.

(I will check and remove any voice mail privacy issue – Can you tell me under what number to find them in the voice mail set up?)

Now I did not upgrade any T-1 software and I was reading another post and they talked about a software upgrade. Do I need to do that? I do have an extra new 6.0 processor I’m going to install today.

What a mess – this is the most trouble I’ve had to date out of 5 years.

Thanks again for all your responses and remember how ever redundant or minuscule they may seem to you; Keep them coming.

Thanks again

John

Hey John,
TTT is right, make sure ALL of your voicemail ports do not have auto ext privacy on. I'm 99% sure that's your problem. Sometime when upgrading software your programming may become corrupted in small ways. It's happened to me too (not that exact fault).

How do I check to see if the voicemail ports do or do not have the auto privacy set?

thanks for the help

John

Hi John,
Get into system programming, #304. Enter your first vm port ext#. It should say "2 Not assigned". Press "next item" and check the rest of your vm ports. You can press #304 again and enter your next port if you are more comfortable doing it that way.
