Is there an easy way using InDesign 2.0 to put lines in the column gutters within a text box? I've got a layout where we have to do that for every story in a 10 page newsletter and I sure don't want to have to do it manually....

Thanks!

If the text boxes & columns are all the same, with the same placement on each page. like columns on a page, you should be able to draw the lines and save as a master. Then apply that to all subsequent pages. You could also save as a template and use for a new doc - automatically applying to all pages.

If the text boxes vary in size, I don't know how to make it easier

Thanks for the tip - but unfortunately the boxes vary in size, and even in locations on the page.

Any other ideas?

You could draw one 2 column text box with the line between to 2 cols. Select the box and the line and Group. Keep it blank and move to the pasteboard.

Every time you need a new text box, copy and paste that. The line will grow or shrink vertically with the box as you resize the box but will retain its weight.
