Line usage ordering 1

Ive just installed my first norstar system, a UK version of the CICS at home !

I have 3 analogue lines, one 3 different phone numbers.
Line 1 is the number everyone knows about
Line 2 is dedicated for inbound into my fax machine
Line 3 is for general use.

What I want to happen is that
The first person to hit 9 on their phone gets line 2,
The next gets line 3
The last gets line 2 (and blocks the fax line as a result)

Ive sorted out my inbound into a hunt group using lines 1
and 3 (which then display caller ID on all the phones in the hunt group that are ringing). Line 2 is then only configured on the fax machine's ata's line assignment.
- that all seems to work nicely.

Anyone have any ideas ? Perhaps using line pools ?

The norstar does not let you select order for the outgoing calls it just selects the trunks by highest trunk number in the line pool first. The method I have used is to decide the outgoing order you need (in your case two first then three) then one then connect them to the CICS in the reverse of that ie outside line one to CO 1, Outside line three to CO 2, outside line two to CO 3.

assign all three trunks to line pool a under
lines->trunk line data->line typeool A.

allow stations to access pool a under
Terminals & Sets->line access->linepool access->linepool A:Y

then assign 9 to be the access code for pool a under
SystemPrograming->Access codes->Line pool access->Line Pool a:9.

Thank you. You have solved my problem, and another one to boot

I should have said that the first user gets line 1 (and not line 2), second gets 3 and third gets 2.

So what I will do is to connect the 1st line to port 4
on the switch (there are 4 analogue lines), line 3 to port
3, line 2 to port 2 and leave port 1 empty.

The second problem this solves is that the powerfail telephone lines are powerfail on analogue line 2 and 4, which means I now have powerfail on the main line - which is what I wanted. (and I even only have to move one line !)

You can leave the port empty but my normal usage would be to use lines 1 thru 3 with line 4 available as another add on, When/if you add another line to your system it would probably hunt last from the phone company so you would want to use that line first for outgoing calls. JerryReeve

As its home, I actually need this to work "wrongly" compared to businesses.

I.E, when anyone picks up a phone and dials an external number, I want the main number (that everyone knows) to be engaged. Otherwise we will get incoming calls when were on the phone which will ring all the phones in the house (almost all phones are on the same huntgroup, and so get CLID displayed on all the phones before we pick them up)

For that reason, we only have one line on the "main number" - the other lines have different phone lines. Im also very unlikely to add any more lines. Theres two adults here (and a fax machine) and 3 lines ...

Anyway, it all works nicely now - just working out how to do least-cost-routing so I can insert a "alternate carrier prefix" in on certain phone numbers at different times of the day etc

Next I need to connect the norstar door phone into the gate phone/opening system.
