All,

I have searched the forums for a similar question to mine but did not find an exact match, so apologies if this is redundant.

I have a question about rollover. My system is norstar version 4.0 (I think) and phones are M7310.

We have 4 lines, but one is used for the fax. A call to line 1 rolls to the other two lines, but a direct call to the other two lines does not roll. I am concerned if someone calls line 2 or 3 and gets a busy signal, but someone may be available to take the call on one of the other lines.

My provider (nuvox) says they support rollover feature on all three lines.

I have the admin guide but I need this explained. I found this faq about hunt groups but not sure if I am on the right track.

It sounds like a provider problem to me, hunt groups should be "round robin" any line you call should rind and hunt.
As far as Norstar hunt groups. You can add all lines to the hunt group and assign the hunt group dn to any phone you want. but if you do this the lines can not appear and ring on the station's assigned to the hunt group.
This may sound a little confusing but it works quite well.

I have seen 2 different set up where they assign lines from a main number and you can call the second # from the second line and will roll over to the 3 rd line or they assign a main # and give it lines that they call members and will not roll over when you call a member # from that member #.

You need to call former provider nuvox now is called windstream
Windstream bought Nuvox 2-3 yrs ago
and tell them that is how you what the rollovers to work. If L2 is called it should roll to L3 etc.
You should also be able to log into windstream's site and change that youselft also

OK thanks I have emailed windstream and they are opening a ticket to verify the setup.

My hunt group ext number is HG01:290. Is that just a default setting, or is there really a hunt group defined?

hg01 has nothing to do with the way your lines roll.

Hunt Group in the ststem is just a cheep Call center config with no greetings.

Your advice to contact windstream was perfect. As I said, they had told me that the rollover was working round robin, but it was not. In fact they cannot support that configuration at all.

Their proposed solution is to add another phone number that forwards to the main number - which already rolls to lines 2 and 3. I have been a customer for years so they offered one line at no charge.

This solves half of my problem because I need a solution for two numbers. It would cost me $17 per month for a second number that would forward to line 1.

Thanks to everyone for their time.

See if Windstream can send just your line 1 number as caller id no matter which line you call out on. If they can then everyone will call back in on that number and your roll over should be fine.

Hey Hawks that is a good idea that I did not know. We often are forced to dial out on line 2 or 3 so lots of return calls come in on them.

Alas I have this particular problem because I am advertising line 2 and 3 on web sites on the advice of my web developer. He says it will improve my google searches....

They problem is that it can't do a round robin if all lines are busy.
