Sorry for all the questions at once, but have a handful of things that we would like to change on our system.

It seems that when a person in our office hangs up a line (lets say line 12), and someone else immidately goes off hook, they will automatically pickup the line the other person was just on (line 12). But, usually the phone company doesn't have enough time to re-set that line, before we are going off hook (we get no dial-tone).

So, is there a setting that can be changed that will keep people from selecting that line for a few seconds after the person hangs up? So, for example, if I pickup line 12, everyone's extension will now default to line 11. Is there something that we can set that will keep eveyone's extension to auto-select line 11 for a few seconds after I hang up the phone on line 12 (giving line 12 enough time to re-set)?

Common problem with key system mode and slower older telco switches.

Assuming your running a merlin legend, magix or similar system that allows Hybrid-PBX mode, you may want to consider setting your system up in the Hybrid-PBX. Doing this and assigning your common use lines into a pool will result in a circular hunt pattern, rotating through which line is used for outcalling.

Sounds like you clearly have LS trunks. Make sure that LS Disconnect is set to Yes under
>Lines And Trunks
>LS Disconnect

The alternative is to change to GS trunks. The switch will provide the disconnect, not telco and the disco is immediate.
