Is there any way that you can have your pools grab their lines in a linear "hunt"? Meaning that line 801 will always be used first if it is available? This is a Magix 2.0 version 9. Thanks and let me know if you need any more info.

First off, I assume you are talking about the OUTGOING order of things.

The POOLS Hunt between each other, in the order they are assigned to ARS.

That is, if you set up ARS to choose first the 899 pool, and then the 898, and 897 and so on, then 899 would be chosen first, followed by 898 and 897 and so forth.

The individual LINES within the pool are chosen more or less at random.

So, if you want Line 1 chosen first, let it be the only thing in the 899 POOL, Line 2 next, set it as the only thing in the 898 POOL, and so on.

But that wouldn't necessarily be very efficient.

I usually like to have a few lines in each pool, with the LAST FEW THAT I WANT TO GET USED FOR OUTGOING CALLS, in the LAST POOL CHOSEN by ARS.

Thank you for your response. I assumed that was the case but had to verify b/c just turned up a PRI earlier today. All calls are coming in and going out fine. There was one thing that had me a little confused... on any Long distance outbound calls ARS directs them to pool 899 which is the PRI. IT grabs the outbound channel in normal sequence and the all calls are connecting with no problem. My confusion was that the NOC was only seeing my outbound calls go out over channel 23, regardless of the channel I was grabbing. Is that normal? Would it be programming on my end?

I am pretty sure when you use PRI that the system will dial out on 23 thru 1. THis is to help prevent GLARE. Glare is when an incoming and outgoing call try to use the same channel. You may be able to change the order but i never have had to so i dont know how.

GLARE should NEVER, EVER be a problem on ISDN of any flavor, PRI or BRI, because the messages sent on the DCH between the switches or equipment decide and agree what BCH is going to be used, regardless of direction of the call in or out. The CO switch may have a particular pattern that it uses, but the preceeding still holds true.

In response to outgoing only being seen on channel 23, the Magix may be selecting it as "first choice". Did you try simultaneous multiple outgoing calls to make sure things are working OK?
