line on page can't be removed can you help?

I used footnotes to add a footnote and i now have a line 1/3
of the way accross the page. Can type above or below, mouse won't click on line, header footnote no longer highlighted.

Go to Insert Footnote/endnote, enable the appropriate section (footnote or endnote Number) and put the number in the box. Go to options and then Separator.

If you want no line then choose the X if you want to change the style then choose the appropriate style.

If you remove the line you might want to lessen the space made above and below where the line goes so that the footnote isn't too far from the bottom of the last sentence. Just reduce the space in the Add space sections.
