I am having a problem, or I should say sales is having a problem. One of our customers likes to submit individual PO's with multiple line items of the same product with different delivery dates. The issue is when we create multiple orders, one for each delivery date we lose the correct sequence of line items which is something they require, my question is other then creating one order and doing backorders is there any way to create multiple orders and manipulate the line items to correspond with the PO.

There is only 1 item per order correct? If so how are you losing sequences? Please explain.

Well there could be 6 items and maybe two need to be delivered
tomorrow two next week and two next month, well other then creating a backorder is there a way to create an order and change the line item #'s say from 1 & 2 to 3 & 4 this way when we ship the second order the line items match the PO, or is it possible to have a backorder pick ticket print with the correct line item #'s from the original pick ticket, currently if we have an order and ship line item 1 2 and 4 and backorder
line item 3 when we print the pick ticket for the backordered item later it shows as line item 1

Am I missing something here or do you just need to create the order and put a different promise/request date on each line item. Then only select the item for billing and shipping that are supposed to go out?

I am interested in the results of this question.

Thanks

The field line_seq_no gets renumbered when a backorder is processed. The remaining lines are just numbered 1, 2, 3, etc.

The field line_no, however, never gets renumbered. This field will keep the original sequence no matter what happens in terms of backorders.

So you could modify your pick ticket form to print line_no rather than line_seq_no. I believe this may be called 'unique_seq_no' in the form designer.

Does this help?

Yes that is exactly what I need to do, we use the Macola Picking ticket if I go into the SM Form Designer how do I swap out the current Item filed with the one you described above.

Find the field on the line items screen of the picking ticket. Take note of te line #, starting position, length and format. Delete it.

Hit the insert button, type a U. The field 'Unique Seq' (I just checked and this is what the field is called) will pop up. Place it in the same position and with the same format as the old field. Save it and you are done.

NOTE: If you have a modified macola form you shuld always save it as a form # 20 or greater. Forms 1-20 are reserved for Macola (even though the most I have ever seen is 8 or 9 forms) and are subject to being written over during an upgrade.

I tried this, but there is no field in the designer called Unique Seq, I did look in the OEORDLIN_SQL table and noticed the fields you are referring to but nothing that corresponds inthe designer??

In the designer or in forms design? You need to be in System Manager, maintain, form maintenance, form designer. Is this what you are doing?

If not please confirm that this is a Macola progression install, not the DOS or ES product.

Yes it is a progression install and yes I was in the form designer, when I it U it brings me to Unit Cost and other fields with U as the first letter no Unique seq though

What was the solution if unique seq was not available?

The field was renamed to item# so when I went in to form field designer I went to that field and changed where it was pointing which was sequence_no to Unique Seq then it defaulted to unique Seq as the name. The person who worked here before me must have just changed the name.
