Line doesn't ring when called ..

I've got a line that when called doesn't ring and goes right into a pre-recorded greeting that eventually will allow you to leave a msg. If we forward the extension to itself - you can then call it and it will ring. Does anyone know how to fix this or what has caused this to happen?

How is the number programed. ACD? 500? digital? If it is not programed then the system must be in nite and the nite number in LD 15 must be in voice mail as an automated operator. Any number not programed in the switch usually goes to the console (if programed in LD 15 for intercept). With no console and a nite number the the number rolls to the nite number. Look and let us know.
 
Thank you for the reply - I am not sure how it's programed. I'm fairly new to the whole PBX thing - and really not familiar with the terms. Here's what I do know:

The line is the support line here - during the day people call the main phone number, select the appropriate option and it rings on a digital phone at someone's desk and at night that line is forwarded to our answering service.

But this morning - we had to forward that phone to itself before it would ring at the phone.

Sounds like you Voice Mail menu service is still stuck in nights. If you are new maybe you should get someone who know the Voice mail system and have them look at it.
