Line chart report blank 1

I have a line chart report in an Access 97 report. The report has a query as its record source. The query is filtered based on the value selected by the user in a subform. When I run the query (when my subform is opened and a value is selected), it runs fine. When I run the report using this same query, there is no data on the chart. However, if I then go into design mode of the report and run the query/record source, the data comes up fine. In addition, my line chart generates perfectly fine when I hardcode into the query the parameter that I'd like to pull from the subform to use as a filter.

Any ideas why I can run the query just fine using the subform parameter, but my line chart is blank when using the same query?

do you get any kind of error message?

try this: in the record source of the chart, go into design mode. right-click in the grey area at the top of the query grid. choose PARAMETERS. type in [Forms]![FormName]![txtBoxName] and put in the data type. substitute your form and control name. does that work?

And, in case it's relevant to others who may come upon this thread during a search to solve a similar problem: no, I didn't get any errors when I ran the report, it was just a blank report.
