What file type are you exporting to? I recommend .wmf
In Word - insert pic file .wmf (do a test print) everything should come out fine - no line breaking.
If you create a graph in Illustrator, which sounds like what you are doing, it will not be editable in your Word Document without a lot of hassle.
Excel offers decent graph features that will be more user friendly with Word. Just a suggestion.
