line appearence without ringing

hi everybody
in the release 3.0 ,the feature LINE APPEAREANCE show me the"activity" of a line ,but rings is the re a way to "MONITOR" lines without RINGING?

Configure a button on the phone as USER and then put the name of the person you want to monitor, surrounded by quotes, in the Telephone Number field. This should allow you to monitor the person without any ringing. Also check the DSS Status box on the system configuration if you want to be able to see details of the users call.

i was triyn to find a way to monitor a line , thanks to release 3.0 ,but without hearing the ringing each time a call arrives from outside trough it
