Hi everyone!

I'm really enjoying reading this site.

I have 2 questions. The first one has to do with rollover from line 1 to line 2. I have a customer that says that when line 1 is being used calls are not rolling over to line 2. Is
this a phone company problem? Or is there a setting within programming that I must activate in order for it to rollover. Line 2 was added to the system a few weeks ago.

My second question is in regards to voice mail. When the voice mail kicks in the green light on the phone stays on for a long period of time (roughly for about a minute). This occurs even when no message is being left. Is there any way of adjusting this so that the line can be freed up as soon as possible (ie: going back to the red light?)

The phone system in a Merlin Legent R7.

I appreciate your replies!

Line hunting is a feature in the CO switch. It cannot be done on prem. You need to check with whomever ordered the second line to find out if they added the hunt feature to the service when the order was placed. If not, then you or they will need to call the service provider and place another order to add hunting to the lines. If it was ordered, and it appears not to be working, you need to call repair service and have them fix it.

In response to your second question. You need to check that the lines are set for RELIABLE DISCONNECT. Otherwise the voice mail goes thru a timeout period before disconecting the abandoned call. You should make sure all your lines are set for Reliable Disc.

Disconnect supervision is a line function from the CO switch and is usually provided as part of the service(99%). But there a few that seem to think otherwise (bad service or cheap!).

Hope this helps!
