I have a full T1 coming in the my office. I have all 24 channels (full 1.5mb)

My problems is I have a second company leasing space in our buliding. I have aggreeded to allow them internet usage on our T1 backbone. However since nothing in life is free I want to limit their bandwidth usage to 128k, or at least give my office priority.

How can this be accomplished. Currently I have the following routers at my dispossial.
1601
1720
2503
2620

Any ideas or suggestions ?

-Danny

Using queing and policy routing is clean and gives good control over the data as it uses access lists to decide who goes where. You can specify which port, what packet, what port etc..etc..

Hi
Try something like this
conf t
class-map YourClass
match access-group <access-list>
^Z
conf t
policy-map YourPolicy
class YourClass
police 128000 conform transmit exceed drop
^Z
conf t
int <int to second company>
service-policy output YourPolicy
service-policy input YourPolicy
^Z

Dude, just rate-limit the interface that their office uses to connect to your network. Its as simple as entering the command "rate-limit" on the interface. Be sure your running latest IOS.

Dude ;-)

According to Cisco's web site, rate limit is only for CAR capable routers of the 7000, 7200 and 7500 class. It's also IP only and are NOT supported across fastethernet, PRI or tunneling.

The following doc is my source of information.

Since I've not used the command myself, can you add to this any more info or more up to date info?

I recently went to an Elastic Network class and they advise
of a device called a SMG that will apply a defined bandwidth
to users. I'm trying to locate a phone number and the name of the company. I will let you know ASAP. J.Fisher CCNA
