Hi.

I want to limit the outgoing bandwidth on the outside interface of PIX 515 either to 1 Mbit cumulative for all
inside users or assign a specific bandwidth to an inside
ip address.

I tried already the rate-limit command on the outside
interface but it doesn't have any effect.

Any ideas are appreciated.

Joe,

Its not possible to do this with the PIX, you'll need to use a router that supports QoS to provide the rate limiting.
Either use a router on the inside, or, (less secure) one on the outside to rate limit the flows into or out of the PIX.
