Limit On Relationships?? Help!!

Access 97 database w 122 relationships and 353 indexes. 70 tables and 500 queries.

Problem is: I craete relationship w/o error, Save the relationship screen, return and the relationships are gone?? I've tried everything I know and serched the web for an answer to this w/o success...HEEEELLLLPPPPP!!!!!!!!

Are the relationships gone or are they recreated against already existing copies of the tables?
