Is there a limit to the number of fields on a report in Crystal Reports 8.0?

I have about 1000 fields I need to place on one page of a Crystal Report. I can pull up the report in design... but cannot add another field, delete fields or preview the report. It was working fine up until about 800+ fields. I'm getting error messages now...

I am using Access '97 for the database... which has 6 tables of fields used in the report. Here are the messages:

CRW32 This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down... Details show CRW32 caused a
divide error in module CRW32.exe at 014f:005cf297.

CRW32 caused an invalid page fault in module mfc42.dll at 014f:5f4012a1 when closing the first error's window.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance,
L

Lorski: The only limitation I am aware of is RAM (and disk space). I have previously wrutten reports with hundreds of fields - maybe even thousand + - but have not experienced your problem. What spec of machine are you using? Does this happen on larger machines? etc. Try splitting your report into multiple subreports each one of which takes a subset of the total fields and displays these within subsections. If you need any further help on this drop me a line David C. Monks

Laurie,

128M sounds a little light to me for 975 fields? You could try inserting the fields in a different order (i.e. try field 975 first and see if you still get an error. The trick to splitting into subreports is to put each one in a subsection so that they each run one after the other (if you want them to appear side by side use the Underlay following section option
