I have been asked to implement a way to limit the ability for users to download files over a certain size to either their desktop or to any type of external device. They can open, modify, print, ect, just not download the file for security reasons. I have a few concerns because I think that there are ways around this if a user wants to download the file. If we allow a user to open the file, then won't they be able to do a "save as" and then save locally???
With this in mind, I think a better solution would be to put in place a file server auditing program so that we can monitor what files are being accessed and by whom. What I invision as the best solution would be a program that will log all files opened, copied, modified, deleted, and if possible, attached to an email and mailed. But I can't seem to find anything that is remotely close to performing all of the options I need.
Any ideas on how to best monitor how files are handled???
Thanks.
