Hi,

Title might sound cryptic but hopefully I can explain.

- Published Desktop, limited to a single instance per user.
- Thin clients, USB access disabled, no CDROM etc.
- Users occasionaly need to logon to a shared PC "Upload workstation" to copy data from USB drives, CD, DVD etc.
- Currently the user must log off or disconnect session to be able to re-launch session.

- I would like to know whether it is configurable to have a "Follow Me" type sesion.

I found this link, however the users are connecting locally, not via web client:
A disconnect solution is not desirable.
Allowing multiple instances of the same published desktop likewise.

Cheers.

what version of presentation server are you using? if you have workspace control enabled you can easily loginto another worksataion and have the programs "jump" to the new location, severing the connection from the other PC.

However if you have the 'limit to single instance' i think this is mutually exclusive and citrix detects the user as already 'running' and doesnt allow the connection? Havent tested it but from memory this is what happened to us....

try doing it with the limit off, and then back on again... lets know how you go!

Cheers

Hi Scanjam,

Thanks for the response.

Presentation Server 4.5

With single citrix server in farm:
----------------------------------
When 'limit to single instance' is enabled, can only log on once. If session is dosconnected, it will reconnect to that session.

With multiple citrix servers in farm:
-------------------------------------
When 'limit to single instance' is enabled, can only log on once.
If session is disconnected, it *may* reconnect to that session - dependant on where loadbalancer pushes request.
If 'limit to single instance' is disabled then able to launch multiple sessions, once again dependant on how load balancer is working - sometimes it will pull the active session across if request is directed to server with active session, else it will launch a second instance on diff citrix server.

Workspace control is only relevant for users connecting through web interface??

I think it may just be easier to give the users a disconnect icon which has an explicit timeout for disconnected sessions for 3 hrs or something..

Cheers.
