limit a numeric data type field to 8 digits ?

I know for a text field you can litit the field size in design view of the table. How would you limit a nmber field to 8 digits?

I tried a validation rule- Like "????????" -but this requires it to be 8 digits. I need it to be anywhere from 1 up to 8 digits.

>=0 AND <=99999999
