hi,

I wanna make a password to my lilo, when someone try to give parameters to the boot, exemple: linux 1.

I put the password in the /etc/lilo.conf
like this:

...
..
image=some_image
password=my_password
restricted
.....

but when I boot and I give parameters to the boot , it don't ask me for a password.

Try removing the 'restricted' line. I believe that if restricted is specified, then you will only be prompted for a password when the image is called with command line options such as 'single'.

justice41,

yes justice41 that is what I want , I want password only for single mode.
but I tested the two solutions, with and without restricted,
and I don't ask me for password, why?

hi,
I had the same prb with lilo, and I couldn't set a password, now I'm using grub and it works fine.
