I'm a programmer with 17yrs of experience. I'm currently doing VB6 and ASP, but unfortunately have not had the oppourtunity to do and .Net development. Would getting a MS developers certification get my foot in the door? Which cert would be best for obtaining a .Net position? Also, are there any good training out there, i.e. dvd's, and/or organized training classes that would prepare someone who has not done .Net development?

My advice would be buy VS.Net and a few books (Wrox ones are good) and start doing similar things to the VB6 stuff you're doing now in VB.Net. Then you will get the practice with the .Net framework. Then look toward getting certified if required. IMHO if you get the cert and have no experience using the language then an employer will not consider the cert to be a deciding factor on hiring you.
